Growing up my parents never really drank coffee, and consequently I kind of developed an association bias that coffee was something to stay away from. Since college started—along with long studying crammed nights—I’ve opened my eyes to the benefits of coffee. My appreciation of coffee has nothing to do with its actual physical effects but more the culture surrounding it. When I’m around coffee drinkers or a coffee shop, I feel more creative, productive, and most importantly calm. That calmness enhances my feeling of being ‘present’ or being more immersed in whatever it is that I’m doing.
